Women on the Rise
Not always have women had the right to vote, to fill lecture halls, or to study for a profession that they had chosen. In many countries, it was possible only since the beginning of the 20th century for women to study and later to vote, to pursue a profession or to have an own bank account. Equality between genders had been incorporated in the Constitutions in different countries at different moments, but everywhere rather late.In this project the partners' groups have researched and learned "unlearned lessons" concerning the development of society from the 19th and the 20th century, which had not been taught in schools or universities.
The project participants from different countries in the East, West, and the South of Europe, mainly women, but also some men, have learned about the historical and social frames of women’s lives at these time periods and selected, studied and presented women, who in the areas of politics, sciences, pedagogy, art, contributed in a considerable way to social changes towards gender equality. Through applying activating methods of learning including the use of ICT and starting from personal motivation for this topic, they have discovered powerful women who against societal norms stood up for women’s rights.
At the end of the project, the results of the researches of the partners' groups were compared for similarities and differences.
